Muchichili Safari House is a unique property, situated on the banks of the Zambezi River and affording spectacular views in all directions.  Muchichili has all the facilities of a luxury safari lodge and offers the greatest flexibility for guests wishing to enjoy the stunning natural wonder of the Lower Zambezi.  The House can be rented in its entirety to groups/ families on a self-catering basis (i.e. bring your own food and drinks which our chef and team will then prepare to your requirements) or on a fully catered basis; alternatively, guests can book individual rooms (three en-suite, two with shared bathroom) and stay on a fully catered basis.  Either way, our full-time team of room attendants, a chef, and kitchen staff will make your stay a fantastic memorable experience, so you can put your feet up and relax.

We offer the full range of safari activities: our safari trips to the Lower Zambezi National Park combine a one-hour river safari (with abundant hippo, elephant, and crocodile sightings) to/ from the Park from where we move to our 4×4 overland adventure; we have excellent Tiger fishing all along the river in front of the House, and our sunset cruises provide opportunities to see hundreds of stunning carmine bee-eaters who return in the afternoon to nest in the riverbank opposite the house.

We are passionate about responsible tourism and have a policy of supporting and assisting the local communities in which we operate. We work closely with our neighbours in Chiawa and Kalipano village and have provided them with several boreholes and pumps to improve their access to freshwater. We are proud sponsors of an orphaned elephant found on the island in front of the property and consequently named Muchichili, who is cared for at the Elephant Orphanage Project in the Kafue National Park.

Our logo represents the symbiotic relationship between man and the environment: the Muchichili tree (Natal Mahogany), beautiful specimens of which flank the house on the banks of the Zambezi River; the tree trunk is illustrated using the Chinese character ‘Ren’ which means People or Life reflecting our commitment to the local communities and the blue waters of the River Zambezi flow behind.

Staff: Our staff are available to assist you and ensure your stay is restful and enjoyable. All our staff has been trained and employed from our local adopted village ‘Kalipano’ which means ‘I am here.’ This is part of our local community support program giving the local community a sense of ownership. The house comes with a full complement of staff including a Chef, house attendants, gardeners, coxswain, and guide. We always have a management representative in camp (overseer) who will welcome you and hover in the background to ensure your Safari Holiday runs smoothly. Please feel free to tip our staff (tips are shared equally between the team). We suggest K250 ($10) per day.
